Inspired by the works of Heidi Hoy and created while taking a class from her. It was created through a process of folding sheets of wax approximately 1/8 of an inch thick. The body and arms were shaped by folding and manipulating a single piece of sheet wax. However, I did have to add additional sheets to form the head and hood and then blended the sheets edges together for an integrated look. The process of shaping a single sheet of wax results in delicate sensuous lines that I do not believe can be created any other way. In some ways this is a different look for me. On the other hand, the desire to create a sense of movement and beauty is very consistent with my other works. I continue to use this technique when appropriate.
