Jump is one of my "Improv" works. I happened to have some scrap pieces of wax sheets and I began pressing them together without an intention in mind, but allowing the accidents and materials to guide me. The initial suggestion for the shape of the figure came as did it's expression of movement. It was not long before I realized it had the potential for a completed piece. Also, I saw the opportunity to keep the surface as "scraps of wax", allowing a unique surface that would play well with my patina. I set it aside for a few days to observe, making made a few slight adjustments in line and attitude, and finally deciding it was a piece worthy of casting in bronze. I am very pleased with the final outcome.
