Stragazer
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” ― Carl Sagan
This quote captures the essence of this concept.
Stargazer, as is currently envisioned, is a figure to be cast out of salt-resistant 316 stainless-steel. Holes in the Cosmos/Dress will glow with light from inside the figure at night. The star map ring held by the figure will be made with tubular stainless-steel with a yet-to-be-determined structure holding LED lights representing stars. The dimensions would be at least 8 feet high to the top of the head, 10.5 feet to the tip of the highest finger, 8 feet diameter of the star map ring, and the dress/cosmos would be 6.5 feet at the widest point. The dark spot you see on the dress/cosmos are holes in the stainless-steel ranging from 0.5 inches to 3 inches in diameter. It may be set on a raised base, depending upon the location.
The lighting design creates very different viewing experiences between day and night. At night Stargazer would be lit from inside with the effect of seeing patterns of light suggesting recent images from Hubble and the JWST on the dress/cosmos. The star map lights would give a soft lighting effect down onto the face and arms of the figure. During the day the stainless steel would be bright and reflective with contrasting dark holes.
Price is dependent upon size.
