50.5"h x 37" x 18" || Material: Welded Steel
A Scandinavian name meaning "a gift of the sun". The name inspired the form of this work. It anthropomorphizes the "gift". Made entirely of welded steel rod (except for the steel plate base), I wanted open spaces so the body might glisten with light and I wanted the body surface to resemble recent images of the surface of the sun while still being a beautiful human form. The steel is rusted for the "burning" color of red.
 
It has been displayed in 3 different cities as part of the yearly art rotation. Twice it has won the "People's Choice" award.
